Bottom of the bill is a podcast for DIY musicians navigating the current landscape on the periphery of the major industry cities. Hosted by Anton Laplume and Billy Begley, members of Jacksonville, FL’s up and coming band, Side Hustle, the podcast features appearances from various artists, club promoters, management, agents, and venue owners to give some real insight on the industry. Add a bit of comedic relief from from Begley and Laplume’s back and forth with the occasional jam session and you have, Bottom of the Bill.

We had our friend Steve Honig on this week's episode! Steve is the bassist for Jacksonville based jam band S.P.O.R.E. and the guitarist for Greenhouse Lounge and Cowford Town Band. Steve brings a raw undeniable energy when he's on stage and beyond that, is just a phenomenal talent. It was a pleasure getting him on to talk shop for a bit.

Tim Hall is a concert promoter and venue owner based out of Jacksonville, FL. He has worked with artists such as Pearl Jam, Rebelution, John Mayer, and just about anyone else you can think of. Tim is a wealth of knowledge on the promotion side of the game and in this episode he shares a lot of fun stories, great insight, and some do's and don'ts as a promoter and a band.

On this episode we sat down with Joe Marcinek of the Joe Marcinek Band. Our band Side Hustle had the luxury of backing up Joe for the Florida leg of his tour last October and got to become great friends with him. He's not only a genuine guy, but a great guitarists, keys player, and songwriter as well. Every tour Joe takes a different band on the road with him. Members of his band have included George Porter Jr., Melvin Seals, and Nikki Glaspie, and many more! On this episode we dive into his thought process behind the revolving band, being self booked and managed, as well getting into our influences musically. Adam Kenneway is the bassist for southern rock/jam band Bonnie Blue and punk/reggae band Danka as well as a great friend of ours. We've played many gigs with Adam including him filling in for our bassist Sean on the road. We sat down with bassist of Melody Trucks Band, Shane Platten for one hell of an interview. Shane took us through his journey of being a musician in various projects throughout the years and sharing some truly great experiences. Aside from having a stacked resume and being a tremendous bass player, Shane is a great friend of ours and we really got a chance to take the barriers down and just hang for a while.
